This is a blog about being a dad. But more importantly this is a blog about being a dad and being uber focused on your finances. So focused that it’is almost impossible to think about anything else. I used to be careless with my money. When I made a lot of money I spent a lot more, and when i made a lot less, i still spent a lot and saved very little. I finally woke up this past year (at the age of 40) and started to realize that I wasn’t doing enough to secure my financial future.
With all of the talk these days about financial independence and retiring early (or FIRE as it’s commonly known) I became fascinated with the idea of saving more money and achieving my goals faster than I ever thought imaginable.
I hope to use this blog to help guide myself but also help others who might need a little bit of a kick in the butt to get their financial house in order. Along the way, I plan to offer ideas and ways to not only save money, but ways to invest and paint a path for the future that most people could never have imagined.
So as you can see, I’m not in terrible shape, my wife and I from a net worth picture are close looking ok. But based on monthly costs (mortgage, utilities etc) we are both still very much tied to our full time jobs. Over the next few years we hope to save more and invest more in order to provide a more flexible and enjoyable futures
That’s it for now. Would love to hear from you. If you have any questions or if you have any topics you would like me to cover please let me know. Welcome to The Prudent Dad.
Thanks for visiting.
